Ben Rice & The PDX Hustle Ben Rice’s music is deeply rooted in traditional blues, yet at the same time fiercely original. His guitar playing earns labels like “fearless,” “inventive” and “powerful,” and he routinely brings audiences to their feet with his stunning and emotionally honest vocal delivery. Ben is as much at home fronting his electric band as he is captivating a crowd solo with nothing but his voice and his acoustic resonator guitar. The Portland Hustle is an expansion of the trio that Rice has been playing with for the last decade. Adding instruments and singers offers up an expansion of the sonic palette Rice works with. He tapped Portland’s legendary arranger Dave Mills to help orchestrate his originals. The collaboration has yielded a huge sound that is powerful and compelling. The new name, instrumentation, and sound has been a giant leap in excitement and anticipation at shows.

Ty Curtis There are singers, songwriters, and guitarists, and some do it all, but few as convincingly or with the proficiency of Ty Curtis, whose record of accomplishments stands with and, arguably, exceeds those of artists twice his age. Now, with his eighth album, “Ascendant Blues”, Ty pushes boundaries, framed in the context of a seminal, but evolving art form, and looking to its future. Another album, from the same star-studded session, is in reserve, soon to be issued as a follow-up. These recordings were done in a manner that comes as close to live performances as possible, intended to bring that level of excitement to the listening audience.
The strength of these live performances, with Ty leading the charge, is supported by a group of seasoned musicians – Steve Kerin (keys), David Kahl (bass), and Richard Lawrence (drums) – each of them respected artists, with drawing power, in their own rights, in the Portland-based community. There’s something special in the interplay between them, an energy and flow in their music, with each of them prepared to guide the others through a sonic adventure. Of course, this comes from lots of playing together but here it is strengthened and tempered by their intimate involvement in developing the songs, featured on the new recordings. Responses, during and after, from musicians and non musicians, alike, have been consistently positive, whether as a solo artist, acoustic or electric, from solo performer, through various configurations and even into collaborative efforts.
If you’ve seen Ty Curtis before, then be prepared for what others have said; that, as good as he is, there is now an elevated quality about seeing him performing, especially with this band. If you’ve never had the pleasure, prepare yourselves; you’re about to embark on a memorable journey.
The Beat Goes on Marching Band The Beat Goes On Marching Band is an international award-winning all-adult marching band committed to delighting Northwest, National, and International audiences while reliving the best parts of the marching band experiences we fondly remember and creating indelible memories. Founded in October 2011, the band is renowned for it’s upbeat attitude, feel-good musical selections, and emphasis on audience interaction. Though its musical tastes are eclectic, TBGO features a high-energy, brassy, rock and roll style – we may be a marching band, but we’re more likely to play Bruno Mars than John Philip Sousa! The band has performed at a 25 mile floral parade in the Netherlands, alongside Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower, on the floor of the Oregon House of Representatives, aboard a Caribbean cruise ship, in the courtyard of an 18th century castle atop the Great Wall of China – and at hundreds of civic, corporate and private events across the Pacific Northwest.
RGBY RGBY is a musical duo from Newberg, Oregon featuring Chandler Everett and Sammy Duffin. Since 2023, RGBY has released two full-length albums, Voyage and Evergreen, in which they explore the different colors of music. The name “RGBY” is derived from the four foundational synesthetic relationships between music and color: Red, Green, Blue and Yellow, while the music focuses on how these colors interact sonically. Their style reaches many genres, creating a unique collage of music and sound.
